Veterinary Imaging

Veterinary Imaging

Diagnostic imaging for large animal, small animal and wildlife veterinary practice across Africa.

You cannot treat what you cannot see — imaging is the diagnostic foundation of modern veterinary medicine.

Pregnancy diagnosis, fracture assessment, thoracic disease, soft tissue tumours and orthopaedic conditions all require imaging for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning. Yet across most of Africa, veterinary imaging infrastructure lags a generation behind human healthcare — still relying on analog radiography, limited ultrasound and no cross-sectional imaging at all. Jos•Hansen bridges this gap, supplying Mindray portable ultrasound, Caldara digital radiography and Siemens CT systems — and providing the training, commissioning and service support to make them clinically productive.

Portable ultrasound for field pregnancy diagnosis.

Pregnancy diagnosis directly determines the economic return of a breeding programme. Mindray portable ultrasound systems deliver B-mode and Doppler imaging in field conditions — ruggedised, battery-powered and operable by a single veterinarian. Early pregnancy detection at 25–30 days reduces the interval between failed cycles and increases calving rates substantially in commercial and smallholder livestock operations.

Digital radiography replacing analog across veterinary facilities.

Analog X-ray film is slow, requires chemical processing and produces inferior diagnostic quality. Caldara digital radiography systems deliver images to a workstation in under 3 seconds — with full DICOM compatibility, telemedicine capability and long-term digital archiving. The transition from analog to DR is routine in developed veterinary markets; Jos•Hansen is enabling the same standard across Africa.

CT

CT imaging for advanced small animal and equine diagnosis.

Siemens Healthineers veterinary CT systems bring hospital-grade cross-sectional imaging to referral practices and university teaching hospitals. Multi-slice CT resolves complex orthopaedic, thoracic and neurological cases that are impossible to diagnose with radiography alone. Jos•Hansen manages site planning, installation, physicist commissioning and operator training — end to end.

What imaging delivers beyond the diagnosis.

Diagnostic imaging changes clinical decision-making — fewer exploratory surgeries, faster treatment plans, better outcomes and a referral capability that strengthens every veterinary practice that has it.

Field portability for remote operations

Mindray portable systems are battery-powered and operable in kraal or paddock conditions — no external power source required. This brings pregnancy diagnosis and clinical imaging to remote livestock operations where clinic visits are impractical.

DICOM workflow and telemedicine

All images are acquired in DICOM format — compatible with teleradiology platforms for specialist second opinions, referral documentation and insurance reporting across any distance.

Multi-species clinical capability

Our imaging systems have been validated for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, dogs, cats and exotic species — a single platform investment that covers the full range of veterinary practice in one deployment.

Training and long-term competency

Jos•Hansen provides ultrasound and radiography training for veterinarians and veterinary nurses — covering acquisition technique, image interpretation and machine maintenance — ensuring clinical competency from day one of operation.

Diagnostic performance in numbers.

These are the performance benchmarks that define modern veterinary imaging — the standard every system Jos•Hansen installs is measured against.
