Renal & Dialysis Care

Renal & Dialysis Care

Haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis solutions for Africa's growing renal disease burden.

Chronic kidney disease is Africa's most undertreated non-communicable condition.

An estimated 1 in 10 adults worldwide has chronic kidney disease — yet fewer than 5% of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in sub-Saharan Africa receive any dialysis treatment. The gap is driven not by lack of demand but by lack of infrastructure: functional dialysis machines, reliable RO water systems, consistent consumable supply and trained technicians. Jos•Hansen addresses each component of that gap end to end.

Haemodialysis infrastructure — from water to machine to circuit.

A functional dialysis unit requires three integrated systems: ultrapure RO water (12–15 litres per session per patient), a reliable HD machine with volumetric ultrafiltration control, and a complete consumable circuit — dialyser, bloodlines, AV fistula needles and bicarbonate concentrate. Jos•Hansen supplies and commissions each component to ISO 13485 medical device standards, with installation qualification and staff training included.

01

RO Water Treatment

12–15 litres of ultrapure water per session — reverse osmosis removes bacteria, endotoxins and chemical contaminants to AAMI/ISO 23500 standard.

02

Haemodialysis Machine

Volumetric ultrafiltration control, online haemodiafiltration capability, and automated self-disinfection — minimising manual intervention per session.

03

Consumable Circuit

High-flux dialyser, bloodlines, AV fistula needles and bicarbonate concentrate — sourced through Jos•Hansen's Baihe Medical supply chain.

Peritoneal dialysis: clinical-grade treatment beyond the hospital.

Automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) and continuous ambulatory PD (CAPD) offer ESRD patients treatment without hospital attendance — reducing the infrastructure burden while delivering equivalent clinical outcomes for selected patients. Jos•Hansen supplies APD cyclers, PD catheters and all CAPD consumables, with clinical training for nephrology teams and patient education programmes.

Dialysis consumable supply — managed and uninterrupted.

Dialysis cannot pause for a stock-out. Jos•Hansen manages the importation, customs clearance and distribution of Baihe Medical dialysis consumables — high-flux and low-flux dialysers, blood tubing sets, AV fistula needles, bicarbonate cartridges and dialysate concentrate — with in-country buffer stock and rapid replenishment to prevent treatment interruptions.

One partner for the complete dialysis unit.

A dialysis unit fails when any single component is unavailable — water, machine, or consumables. Jos•Hansen supplies and supports all three under one contract.

Complete unit design and commissioning

We design and commission entire dialysis units: RO water system, HD machine installation, plumbing, electrical, consumable storage and staff training — from greenfield to first patient treatment.

Baihe Medical consumable supply chain

We manage the importation and distribution of Baihe Medical dialysis consumables — high-flux dialysers, bloodlines, AV fistula needles and bicarbonate cartridges — with in-country buffer stock preventing treatment-threatening stock-outs.

Dialysis technician training

Biomedical technicians and nursing staff receive hands-on training in HD machine operation, alarm management, reprocessing protocols and RO system maintenance — building durable local capacity.

Regulatory and import compliance

Dialysis machines and consumables are regulated medical devices. Jos•Hansen manages all import documentation, KEBS and Pharmacy and Poisons Board clearances, and maintains full compliance records per device.
